As the results for the upper house become clearer, it is clear that the ‘miracle’ we hoped for has not happened.

However, to achieve more votes than excellent politicians who have been serving their communities for over ten years is indeed humbling and a testament to my core group of volunteers. They had years to spread their message compared to our few weeks.

I’d like to thank my staff, but I didn’t have any. I’d like to thank my campaign manager, strategist, organiser, web designer, etc., but it was just me – and a group of incredible people I am so grateful to call friends.

To specifically name a few is unfair, however they do deserve special mention. Mark Crammond, for your above-and-beyond efforts in gaining nomination signatures, handing out flyers on polling day and letterboxing. Jackie Miers, for your expertly written and researched social media posts. The Glenside Development Action Group and Barry Barber for helping to make the people of Glenside aware that I was running. To Charlotte from Magill Matters, your advocacy for me was beyond amazing, and you were clearly the best volunteer on Saturday. If I could have cloned you and had one of you at every booth, I would have won.

The fact that you all supported a ‘nobody’ and did so without hesitation I will always cherish.

To my sister Cheryl, who kept me going and gave me the sometimes harsh advice I needed, and her partner Emma, for my campaign launch and polling day.

My son, Alex, for your continuous positivity and for gaining nominations.

I know there are many others who have helped in so many ways: at polling booths, meetings, letterboxing, seasoned advice and those willing to share their valuable experience. I thank you all.

It was an incredible journey, just nine weeks from deciding to run to polling day. My late wife, Claudia, thanks you for helping me to have a go, to give me a chance to do the right thing.

Our small team gave it everything and stood by our values of trust, transparency, respect and honesty, and I am incredibly proud to call you all my very dear friends.

Championing a Fairer, More Transparent South Australia

My campaign is founded on principles that put people first, with a commitment to open government, respected and empowered communities, and responsible planning for South Australia’s future.

Along with my individual and community supporters, I believe in open, accountable governance. We value communicating in a clear and timely manner, keeping communities informed and engaged.

My commitment to local communities led me to create Community Development Advocacy SA, which launched last year.

Your concerns are my priorities. I will actively consult with residents, listen to feedback, and advocate for local needs in parliament.

I am committed to openness and accountability.

My policies are shaped by local voices and real community needs.

You can make a difference right now, by becoming a part of the community already working to achieve a voice in government.

Volunteer, donate to the campaign – or simply vote.
